Ngaa Kaupapa o te Paa
Events at Waahi Paa
Ngaa Kaupapa
Waahi Paa is a vibrant marae and cultural centre for our whaanau, hapuu, and iwi, serving as a place of gathering, learning, and leadership. It is home to many significant annual events that reflect our values, traditions, and commitment to the kaupapa.
One of the most important is our Poukai, held every year on the 8th of October—a day where we come together to acknowledge and serve te pani, te pouaru me te rawakore, and to remember the historical significance of Poukai to our tupuna and future generations.
Each year we also celebrate Matariki, marking the Maaori New Year with reflection, remembrance, and renewal.
Waahi Paa hosts regular Taiao waananga, marae and trustee meetings, reo waananga, and kaupapa dedicated to supporting and nurturing the next generation. Celebrations honouring our mokopuna are central to our calendar, reinforcing our intergenerational strength and the importance of whakapapa.
